Laurent Pokou Stadium, Abidjan, Ivory Coast
Morocco and DR Congo played out a 1-1 draw in their Group F opener at the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday. Ayoub El Kaabi gave Morocco the lead in the first half, but Silas Katompa Mvumpa equalized for DR Congo after the break. El Kaabi scored in the 21st minute, heading home a cross from Achraf Hakimi. DR Congo had chances to level before the break, but they were denied by Morocco goalkeeper Yassine Bounou. DR Congo continued to press after the break, and they were rewarded when Silas scored in the 67th minute. The forward latched onto a pass from Dieumerci Mbokani and fired a low shot into the corner of the net. Morocco pushed for a winner late on, but they were unable to find a way past DR Congo's defense. The draw leaves both teams with a point after the first round of matches in Group F.
