May 22, 2014
The Fort Belvoir Safety Office offers Motorcycle Safety Foundation training classes multiple times a year. The course is offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 8am to 4pm. Military leave is not charged for this course.
The course is open to all active duty military personnel who work or reside on Fort Belvoir. To register for the course, please contact your Garrison Safety Office or visit the AIRS website at https://airs.safety.army.mil/.
The Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) is a non-profit organization that provides motorcycle rider training and education. The MSF's mission is to reduce the number of motorcycle crashes and fatalities.
The MSF's Basic Rider Course (BRC) is a two-day course that teaches new riders the basics of motorcycle riding. The BRC covers topics such as motorcycle controls, starting and stopping, turning, and braking.
The MSF's Experienced Rider Course (ERC) is a one-day course that teaches experienced riders how to improve their riding skills. The ERC covers topics such as cornering, braking, and accident avoidance.
Fort Belvoir's Safety Office strongly encourages all motorcycle riders to take the MSF's Basic Rider Course or Experienced Rider Course. These courses can help riders improve their riding skills and reduce their risk of a crash.
