Buzz Aldrin, the second person to walk on the Moon, passed away on January 20th, 2023, at the age of 93. Aldrin, along with Neil Armstrong, made history on July 20th, 1969, when they became the first humans to set foot on the lunar surface during the Apollo 11 mission.
A Life Devoted to Space Exploration
Born in Montclair, New Jersey, Aldrin graduated from West Point and served as a fighter pilot in the Korean War. After joining NASA in 1963, he participated in the Gemini 12 mission before being selected for Apollo 11. Aldrin's contributions to space exploration have been widely recognized and celebrated throughout his lifetime.
